As always with my blog, these are my personal beliefs and experiences. I am in no way diagnosing, prescribing, or treating. Please refer to my disclaimer and I recommend getting medical advice before doing anything new.
Below are what we're actively doing to prevent illness. If I could only afford one of these, I would choose high doses of Vit C. In addition to these supplements, we try to keep sugar to a minimum, eat whole foods, drink a ton of water, refrain from alcohol, and exercise. We also keep an alcohol based hand sanitizer with us everywhere we go, car, purse, lunchbox. When we get home from school, the kids go straight into the tub. This post discusses precautions to take while in public. Also check out my post on preparing for the Coronavirus (its discusses Oregano oil and other supplements to have on hand for illness), in case Martial Law is enforced.

I put the first 6 supplements in a cup and they drink it with a straw. I then make the vitamin C in a shot glass (recipe below). Then they chew the omega.
Liquid Probiotic You can spray it or do drops and it tastes like water! We also each fermented sauerkraut and pickles. Two of the three kids love sauerkraut.
Liquid Multivitamin by MaryRuth's Organics It is seriously the best and the entire family can take it.
Iodine I love this unflavored iodine. Great for immunity boosting, thyroid protection, and detoxification. It's the perfect dilution for our family.to kill pathogens in the mucous membranes and lungs. Prevention-Adult, I take 2 drops (225mcg) per day. Illness-Adults, I take 3-4 drops. Children, speak with doctor first. If you have thyroid issues, speak with doctor before beginning. Here's what a doctor wrote about dosing for kids.
Colloidal silver Prevention- We are using the nebulizer a few times a week to boost immunity and kill pathogens in the mucous membranes. I do 1/2 teaspoon with a few drops of water for myself. This nebulizer is only $20 and they ship fast. It can also be taken internally. Illness- We will nebulize 2 times a day and taken internally as directed. Sovereign Silver has dosing for kids with their kids version, or you can figure out the conversion with the adult version. Here's a study on the use of using colloidal silver during illness. Here someone writes on using a nebulizer with colloidal silver. And here is video showing nebulization of colloidal silver. Please do your research and speak with a doctor.
Elderberry Syrup Or dried elderberries to make your own. So simple and saves so much money to make your own. We use this as a preventative and during illness. Prevention- I take 1T a day and the kids get 1/2-1t. Illness- We take it more frequently. Here's the recipe to make your own.
Vitamin D We take Thorne Vit D without K2 (this helps us absorb Vit D) so I can up our D dose without worrying about getting too much K2 (I still need to do upper levels of K2). We get our Vitamin K2 in our multi. If you want a vitamin D with K2, this one is amazing.
Vitamin C. Vitamin C assists with white cell production-great immune booster. I prefer this ascorbic acid which is water soluble so we will urinate out any excess our body doesn't need, unlike fat soluble vitamins DKEA, per The Vitamin Cure book. My special mix-I take a shot glass and add 1 teaspoon of pure maple syrup, then fill it halfway with water. I put their correct maintenance dose of C in and mix. It tastes like a sweet tart! Prevention-Adults can take 3-5000mg day. Children is by weight-In The Vitamin Cure Book, it says, "Vitamin C: Easy rule of thumb; the child's age in gram, divided by 4. (Examples: 16 year old 4g (4,000mg) per day; 6 year old 1.5g (1,500mg) per day) Given in at least three divided doses)." Again, speak with doctor. Illness-The book basically says you want to take enough vitamin c every hour until you have loose stools, then back down the dose, but continue a lower dose of C. The following pictures are from The Vitamin Cure book on therapeutic doses by weight for illness. I wrote more information on why I love Mega Dose C.

Omegas. Vegan omega gummies by MaryRuth's Organics is what we're currently using. We used to use fermented cod liver oil but now I'm torn as to whether it's safe or not. Read more here.
Vitamin A. We only take natural sources of vitamin A like sweet potatoes and carrots and the amount that is already in our family liquid multivitamin. Spirulina is a great way to get vitamin A and can easily be added to smoothies.
Trace minerals. I'm adding this in here because most people drink distilled or RO water. Minerals are vital for our cells to properly receive signal. Minerals have been removed from these waters. The Berkey filters allow for the minerals to remain in the water. I also try to throw a pinch of Himalayan pink salts into our water or foods when I remember to give added minerals.
Magnesium. I give them baths a few times a week with epsom salt. Read about the importance of magnesium. Another thing we are deficient in. Or I will give them Calm in the evenings if I remember. If you aren't sure on dosage, they also have a Calm for Kids. They love the fizziness of it and this one has calcium and magnesium in it.
Garlic cloves- Cheap with great antibacterial properties. Prevention- I heavily cook with it during the winter. I slip it in everywhere I can, even cooking rice. Illness-For me, I crush 2 cloves, let it sit for 10 minutes and then swallow with water 3 times a day when I'm ill. Letting it rest after being crushed allows the allicin to be released, which is the biological compound in garlic. Kids may tolerate it more if minced and added to honey.
Full Spectrum CBD Oil. It's a great immune booster as the Endocannabinoid System has receptors throughout all of our body systems including our gut, where 80% of our immune system is. The Endocannabinoid System assists in creating homeostasis amongst all of the systems in the body. 10% off with the link. Love this company-women owned, USA grown hemp, and she gives back 1% to women of domestic violence.
These are to have on hand IF illness strikes--not a preventative:
Liquid Oregano Oil. This stuff is a potent antibacterial, tastes awful, and will make you smell like Italian food, BUT it works. For the toddlers, I put 2-3 drops in my hand and mix with a small eraser tip of coconut oil, then rub along their spine, and bottoms of their feet. My oldest is 9, so I add 2 drops into grape juice shot 2 or three times a day. Here is someone giving doses. This is to only be used during illness, not a preventative.
Homeopathy. Take as prescribed on label. My ND always said to give my toddlers 3 instead of 5 pellets but ask a doctor. Rhus Toxicodendron works for the aches that comes along with illness. Antimonium Tartaricum works for the wet cough that isn't productive. Belladonna helps with fever. Arnica Montana helps with pain and headaches.
Neti pot or saline spray and nasal bulbs for the littles. These are great to have on hand, because sure enough int he middle of the night is when you need it most. I recommend using sea salt instead of their packets.
Thank you and please share if you feel called to do so <3
