The Perfect Detox Bath

I absolutely love taking a warm bath, but I hate how long it take for my garden tub to fill up! I try my best to take a couple detox baths each week. I put in detox elements into my kids baths each time they take one.

You can mix and match how ever you like for you bath.

  • Vitamin C. While the bath is filling up, I add a heaping teaspoon of powdered ascorbic acid to the water. Vitamin C neutralizes chlorine and chloramine from the water, but it needs to sit in the water for 5-10 min. This is the same Vitamin C I take orally.

  • Epsom Salt or Magnesium Flakes. Epsom salt is a great source of magnesium, which most humans are deficient in. We deplete our bodies of magnesium with lack of sleep, high intake of sugar, and caffeine. Luckily our bodies easily absorb it through the skin. Magnesium helps with headaches, sore muscles, and a sleep aid to name a few. I add 1/2-1 cup salts (1/4 cup for little kids and make sure they don't drink it as it can have a laxative effect) as the water is running. Another great way to get magnesium and a good nights rest is Calm powder mix. It takes so good and they have a kids version.

  • Himalayan Salts. Optional, but I add the salts for extra mineral absorption. I put a large palmful in.

  • Essential Oils. If you'd like a little aromatherapy, drop your oils onto the epsom salt before dropping the salts into the water. This keep the oils from floating atop the water. I personally love lavender or frankincense. I love this brand because they are third party tested, very reasonably priced, not an MLM, and they have kids safe versions.

  • Bentonite Clay. Once the vitamin c has been in the water for 5-10 minutes, you can now add the powdered clay. If you just toss it into the water, it will clump up. I add 1/8-1/4 cup of clay to a protein powder cup, add water, and shake. It blends the powder into the water well, then I pour it into the bath. Bentonite clay is a great detoxifier of toxins and heavy metals.

  • Your bath is read now ready to relax in for 20-30 minutes. Not sure how true this is, but I've read that if you soak longer, your body begins to reabsorb the toxins???

Bubble baths and other synthetic scented products are very unhealthy for us and for females vaginal health. Remember, our skin is the largest organ in our body, we absorb everything we put on it!

Now if you want to make your bath more of a ritual, while the water is running, you can light a couple of sage leaves (sage is now endangered, so please don't light the entire bundle). As you sage the room, bring forward your intention, your guides, and your dreams. Grab a few of your favorite stones and set them along the side of the tub, or place them into the water if you know they can be placed in water. Some stone like selenite will dissolve in water. Light a candle and set your intention as you step in. Meditate on your intention while relaxing in the water and see what comes through!
